Day 1 Dos Palmas Airport in Alajuela or Hotel Bougainvillea in Santo Domingo de Heredia
After you arrived at Juan Santamaría international airport in Alajuela, close to the capital city of San José, you will be picked up and taken either to Hotel Dos Palmas or to Hotel Bougainvillea. After 5 minutes (Dos Palmas) or 20 minutes (Hotel Bougainvillea) you can relax and acclimatize in tropical Costa Rica. From Dos Palmas it is possible to visit Poás Volcano and / or La Paz Waterfalls. Hotel Bougainvillea has beautiful gardens, and both hotels are a good starting point to explore San José.
Day 2 and 3 Mawamba Lodge in Tortuguero
In the morning you will leave for Tortuguero by public transport, rental car or private shuttle. The last part of the trip will be made by boat through the jungle. Here you will spend one and a half day to see the sea turtles, to spot birds and to take a boat ride. Day 4 and 5 Tree House Lodge or El Arbol or Geckoes Lodge on the Caribbean Coast (choice)
On the Caribbean coast you will stay at the Garden House of Tree House Lodge, in the Jungle House of El Arbol, or in a bungalow wit its own plungepool at Geckoes Lodge. These lodges are all in the middle of nature, and all of them have every modern convenience you wish. Of course they all have a fabulous view to the tropical jungle. Relaxing in a hammock or visiting National Park Cahuita, where you can spot monkeys, sloths and iguanas. Day 6 Guayabo “Smoky Volcano” Lodge in Turrialba
Today you will go to beautiful Guayabo Lodge in Turrialba, surrounded by mountains and unspoilt nature. Here you can make a hike to Turrialba volcano. Visit the botanical gardens and see Guayabo archeological monument. At the Ortuño farm people can show you how they produce coffee, sugar cane and macadamia nuts in a traditional way. Day 7 Heliconia Island River Lodge in Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí
Heliconia Island River Lodge: what’s in a name, it is situated on an island between two rivers. The beautiful garden with heliconias and other tropical plants is famous. You can see many birds and monkeys in the garden. Furthermore you can visit pineapple and banana plantations, make a tour on the River or have a look at the biological center Selva Verde. >Heliconia Island River Lodge<
Day 8 Monte Terras in Tronadora
In the province of Guanacaste you will sleep in a cheerful cabin at Monte Terras. From here you can see Arenal volcano. And of course you can make a hike on the foot of this volcano, you will even walk on the lava rocks that came down in 1992. Another possibility is a visit to Monteverde cloud forest. There you can walk across the hanging bridges or make a canopy tour. >Monte Terras<
Day 9 Aroma de Campo in Curubandé
In the north of Costa Rica you will find Aroma de Campo, where you will stay in a colorful cabin. The most important attraction of this nice hotel is Rincón de la Vieja volcano. There is a number of hikes you can make, alongside waterfalls, bubbling mud pools and sulfurous vapors. The most spectacular hike is the one to the crater, which will take you about seven hours. On your way you will see a variety of trees and orchids, while monkeys are frolicking around in the trees. >Aroma de Campo<
Day 10 and 11 Fidelito Ranch&Lodge in Tambor or Beach Hotel Celaje in Cabuya
Fidelito Ranch & Lodge is situated on the Nicoya peninsula. The lodge is situated in the jungle-clad hills of Tambor. An excursion on the 150 acre ranch is included. You can also go horseback riding, ride a bicycle, hike or just relax at the large beach. Day 12 Mar de Luz in Jacó
Then you will go to Jacó. The hotel is situated at one minute walking distance from the center of Jacó, where you can find nice shops and restaurants. You can walk to the beach in 5 minutes. A visit to Manuel Antonio National Park and a boat ride on the crocodile river are possible. In Carara National Park you can see the scarlet macaws. Day 13 Dos Palmas Country Inn in La Garita of Hotel Bougainvillea in Santo Domingo de Heredia

Departure from San José, you will be taken to the airport.
